My testimony of the LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Program

“I have a testimony of the LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Program. The very first thing that the program did for me was make me feel a part of the Gospel when I was coming back to church after over a decade of inactivity. The program has helped me develop a closer relationship with heavenly father and my savior. The program has taught me how to utilize the atonement in my life on a daily basis. Through the principles of the 12 steps I have learned line upon line, precept upon precept of the gospel and my conversion to the gospel has deepened. I love being a member of the addiction recovery program, I love the people I have come to know. I love the 12 steps. I love the principles, and because of the program I have a deep, deep love for my heavenly father and my savior. I’m pretty sure for me that without the addiction recovery program I would have had a much harder time coming back into activity and staying. I believe that the addiction recovery program is another tool that are wonderful heavenly father and our Saviour have given us because He knows that there are people out there like me who needed those things to find him and become closer to him. I leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ amen.”

I have attended the program for a little over 6 years now. I started immediately after I began going back to church in April of 2013. I truly do not have all of the words to convery all of the things that the program has given me. The meetings are a highlight of my week every week. I learn how to utilize the Atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives daily from the principle of the program.

I know that it says “addiction” in the title, but I believe that everyone can benefit from learning the principles of the program and how to apply them into their daily lives. Please don’t let the word addiction scare you. If you love the Savior, this is a wonderful way to get to know Him better.
